Nestled in scenic New England, Robin Hess’s garden in Hampton Falls, NH, bursts with color and vitality during the fall.

Having previously delighted us with stunning seasonal snapshots, Robin returns this year to showcase her garden’s autumn highlights, featuring freshly unfurling fern fronds amidst a tapestry of blooms.

Vibrant Autumn Highlights

Hello, garden enthusiasts! I’m thrilled to share with you some vibrant captures from my garden this fall.

Among the delightful sights are the newly emerged fronds of the late-blooming ostrich fern, an enchanting addition to any landscape.

As the days grow shorter and the temperatures drop, Robin’s garden remains a hive of activity, still buzzing with pollinators eager to savor the late-season offerings.

A real showstopper in her collection is the striking pink Chelone lyonii ‘Hot Lips’ (Zones 3–8), which stands out beautifully against the backdrop of autumn’s warm hues.

Bold Colors of Fall

Bright oranges also play a key role in elevating the garden’s aesthetic.

The ‘Amber Morning’ chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum ‘Amber Morning’, Zones 5–9) introduces bold splashes of color that enliven the landscape even as nature transitions into winter.

Robin also notes the presence of ‘The King’ ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris ‘The King’, Zones 3–7), whose impressive fronds command attention.

This particular variety is ideal for woodland gardens, flourishing to a more significant size than its more common counterparts—perfect for adding a touch of grandeur when space allows.

Additionally, a beautifully rounded mound of ‘Daisy Rose’ mum (Chrysanthemum ‘Daisy Rose’, Zones 5–9) contrasts softly with the surrounding yellow foliage, their golden centers shimmering in the crisp autumn light.

Capturing the Essence of Fall

We are immensely thankful to Robin for sharing the beauty of her garden with us through her stunning photography.

Her artistic eye captures the essence of fall, inviting us to appreciate the magic that unfolds in gardens all around us.
